Cassette label Kaleidoscope – an imprint run by patten who have released music by Karen Gwyer, Vanilla Hammer and Sculpture – are lining up their second release of the year, coming from Yearning Kru, a musician based in Taiwan but born somewhat closer to home in Croydon. 'Cracked Lacquer/Vanadium' is an album compiled from 12 hours of improvisations, ambient recordings, YouTube rips and sample packs. The resulting 21 tracks are a weird mishmash of creaking sound design and unsettling noise, all of which will appear on a limited edition cassette (and we do mean limited – only 23 copies exist and each is a unique recording), although you can grab a free copy from Kaleidoscope's website. Today we're premiering a teaser video for one of the tracks on the release, a clip viewed through a lens of broken effects and artefacts.
Kaleidoscope released 'Cracked Lacquer/Vanadium' on July 23rd.
