A lovely video and a lovely song, Kawaii Pink 2 is a joint effort between Filipino musicmaker Zeon Gomez, aka Ulzzang Pistol, and Sarah Bonito from Kero Kero Bonito. The video is basically someone's desktop, where magazines flash kaleidoscopically and Sarah and Zeon pop up on webcam to each other. There is much pink (much, much pink) and much movement, a celebration of glorious overstimulation. Sarah's distinctive, addictive pitter-patter rhymes sit with glassy chords, snappy beats, elastic subs, and vocals from Uzzang Pistol himself.
This is from Ulzzang's debut album 'Girlfriend' recently released on LA-based label Zoom Lens, and on which he sings in Japanese, English, Korean, and Mandarin. He's a staunch believer of internationalism and connecting cultures, and by eliminating geography with its webcam aesthetics, this video is a perfect illustration of that global love.
