As part of the promotion of his newly released ‘Trilogy’ LP on Nov 9th – which sees his three free mixtapes ‘House of Balloons’, ‘Thursday’ and ‘Echoes of Silence’ digitally remastered and compiled into an album format – the once anonymous Canadian R&B singer The Weeknd has come fully out of his shell. Having drip-fed details of his identity over the past year, Abel Tesfaye has now made a somewhat difficult transition and departed from the safety of his anonymity and into the spotlight.
As part of this transition Tesfaye took a trip to London this week to perform at the BBC Maida Vale Studio as part of Zane Lowe’s Radio One show, played a secret show in London on Nov 25th and, as the above footage shows, performed his track Wicked Games on the ‘Later with…. Jools Holland’ show. The Trilogy LP has been a commercial success too, currently sitting at No. 6 on the US Billboard Top Hip-Hop and R&B Album chart.
