Next week, Moiré will follow his Werkdiscs debut EP 'Never Sleep' from last year with a 12" single release on the label titled BBOY 202/False. The rather enigmatic producer, whose music sits well alongside Werkdiscs boss Actress in its heavy deconstructions of house and techno, and whose general aesthetic puts much focus into clashing rich surface textures, has delivered three tracks that – if not actually shed a great deal of light – at least help our eyes re-adjust to his darkness.
False ramps up the underlying tension of BBOY 202 as it does the tempo, making a nervous and insistent tune that's about as close to a banger as you can expect of his part of the Euro dance underground. The video, made by an artist called Disguise who has worked with Moiré previously, is a choppy blend of static and half-formed images said to be inspired by: "long nights in random hotels where you endlessly switch channels" according to The FADER.
Last month, Moiré contributed a remix to the deluxe edition of Perera Elsewhere's debut album 'Everlast' – stream that here.
