'51º23'N – Arlington CT9' is a short film by ott. studio (Owen Darby, TY Yeo and Tony Gray) and scored by WEN. Inspired by "the decline and regeneration of a seaside town" , the audio-visual installation was premiered at Ramsgate Music Hall last month to a local audience, with most of the filming done in nearby Arlington House, Margate.
Here's what WEN has to say about the film:
“For me, it's the most reactive source of inspiration in my area, a brutalist concrete tower that looms over the beach. It’s a static buffer zone untouched by the recent regeneration of the town and it sits obnoxiously between the “new” vintage dreamland, and the HS1 link to London. A stubborn reminder of that limbo period of near-zero tourism and that beyond the seafront social cohesion is still a struggle. The local community hates and loves it in equal measures.”
