London-based Yiigaa is injecting a fresh perspective into the steeps of R&B. The singer-songwriter, director and university student is a disciple of Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse, but with her ethereal vocals she places herself into her music at all times, as her first two EPs – Breathe and Mist – have shown.
Today she unveils new track ‘Enigma’ and its accompanying visuals, premiering below. Produced by J Strngs, it is an uplifting song about the importance of self-love. The video, directed by Yiigaa herself, echoes this message, with warming highlights of self-assurance and confidence.
“[The video is about] showing the physical and emotional turmoil of a relationship in the modern day, and how complicated loving someone can be,” she says. “The frustrations of needing your own space against being comfortable with someone you care about.”
