Video: Post-punk, Rap, 04.08.20The Streets has supplied some hallucinogenic new visuals for ‘None Of Us Are Getting Out Of Here Alive’, the title track from Mike Skinner’s most recent mixtape .
Joining forces with the punk-tinged sonics of Bristol rock band IDLES, Skinner’s jumpy wordplay is underpinned by growling waves of guitar distortion, creating a corrosive sound that welds together two contrasting genres into an unlikely whole.
The 12-track project marked the Streets’ first record in 9 years after releasing in July. Replacing cocky lyrics of a misspent youth with blunted realisations of middle-aged life, the mixtape sees Skinner inject new perspectives into his work.
Directed by Rollo Jackson, the visual features IDLES frontman Joe Talbot and Mike Skinner traversing through a lucid wilderness, where the skies are purple and orange and oversized lighters double-up as watchtowers.
