Manchester based outfit Wedding reveal their debut single Ruth, taken from their upcoming EP 'Wedding'. Discovered in the label's inbox, Ruth is a perfect soundtrack to reminiscing over the summer months, that we keep forgetting are pretty much behind us. Written and recorded with New Yorker Zachary Taube in Germany, Wedding's Thomas Craig backs up this sentiment: "A lot of the warm nostalgic elements came from watching a cold grey winter turn to lovely Berlin spring and the feeling of possibility that came with that."
Drawing influences from classic songwriters such as John Lennon, Lou Reed and Neil Young, as well as more modern acts such as Kurt Vile and Woods, Wedding create an effortless sound with an air of desire and longing, backed by gentle, yet assuring vocal melodies. Recorded through a tape machine, the EP is spiked with the warmth of analogue, heightening these feelings further. The video for Ruth rolls everything together like strudel; with skate sessions down streets that scream South Manchester, slo-mo dogs, trippy faces and summer days that climax at the waterside.
All eyes (and ears) on Wedding.
'Wedding' is out on October 16th via RIP Records.
