When Apollo 11 left the earth to deliver Neil Armstrong and Buzz Alrin to the moon / immortality, it was touch and go whether they’d return. Nixon, being the cheery type, wrote a speech which he would deliver if these heroes died in orbit. Happily, the moonwalkers returned to earth and lived to old, old age, and the speech was shelved.
Fast forward to 2012: Armstrong has passed away, and interesting-seeming art-disco band The Eyes In The Heat have intoned the speech over a gruelling backing, with a self-made video of the space race. A black moment that never happened, reported by a band into music that never happened to be huge, who probably like wearing black, we are premiering it above. Buy their album ‘Program Me’ in early October.
