The UK’s own Plan B is blazing an effective trail. Following the uprisings across England last year, Ben Drew has been a vocal and surprisingly articulate critic of the August riots and the public response. Identifying himself as part of that underclass inhabiting the council estates and community centres that bred the resentments, Drew’s Ill Manors explores the psychology of class from the visceral core of someone who’s lived its negative effects. An album of the same name is due out May 14th and promises more caustic lines of biting social criticism.
