Video: Afrobeats, Rap, 24.04.20Since bursting into the limelight in 2017, Octavian has gone from a life of homelessness to the cusp of global success.
Poised to release his highly-anticipated debut record in 2020, the 24-year-old has spent the last three years honing his craft, releasing two experimental mixtapes in ‘Spaceman‘ and ‘Endorphins’ as well as recently collaborating with Skepta on the Latin-American-style hit ‘Papi Chulo’.
Taken from the forthcoming album, new single ‘Poison’ continues Octavian’s desire to embody the hottest sounds from across the planet, paying homage to his African heritage after a recent trip to Nigeria allowed him to reconnect with his roots. Featuring two of Nigeria’s fastest rising artists in Obongjayar and Santi, the track mixes together an attractive afrobeat flare with Octavian’s unmistakeable UK style.
Produced by Take A Daytrip, the chart-topping duo behind Sheck Wes’ ‘Mo Bamba’ and Lil Nas X’s ‘Panini’, ‘Poison’ has a bold sound deserving of the high-end cinematic video which accompanies it.
Transporting Octavian to a narcotic world resembling something out of the Matrix films, acclaimed filmmakers Crown&Owls take the track’s visuals above and beyond anything the rapper has put out before.
