Here’s the new Lapalux video for Without You, a few weeks ahead of the release of ‘Nostalchic’ on Brainfeeder. And we can tell you now it really is excellent – a record full of tenderness, variety and vibrancy. Without You is one of ‘Nostalchic’s’ most intimate moments – with all its airs of heartache contorted into something more haunted, achieved through the manipulation of Kerry Leatham’s yearning vocal.
It’s these lines that Without You circle around that are extended in the visual, directed by Nick Ray Rutter. It follows a blossoming attraction between a girl and a mysterious, faceless figure in a full-body gimp suit – which as you might imagine hardly proves straightforward. At times feeling tragicomic (she introduces him to the family, and his table manners leave something to be desired) and others nightmarish, it builds into something strangely moving.
