We’ve made no secret of the fact that we love Kilo Kish. Easy, frank and thoughtful, the Brooklyn artist doesn’t seem to really fit the bill of “rapper” – in fact, what she does sounds more like the kind of coy, sultry talk-singing that dominated tracks from the likes of girl group All Saints back in the 90s and early 00s.
Capturing snatched moments of intimacy in waking twilight hours, ‘Navy’ is tantalising and tentative, and this jumpy head-rush of a video blends with that mood perfectly. Kilo Kish appears in several guises, encased in phone booths and images that chase each other off-screen – always with an incredible stare, and an intensely intimate way with words, that keeps you rooted to the spot. Watch it now.
