Kendrick Lamar’s mellow, Drake -featuring album cut Poetic Justice is the calm before the storm in the whirlwind narrative of the rapper’s cinematic ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ LP, but in visual form the song is fast-forwarded through all the lovesick sundress admiring and gets straight down to the nitty-gritty. What that results in is a confusing video in which one rapper chills with a woman in bed as the other gets shot down in the street (er, spoiler alert), all prefaced with a pretty unnecessary disclaimer that reminds us not to take this fim “literal”. Most bizarrely of all, Drake’s entire verse is delivered as a voicemail message. Really, Drake? You haven’t learnt anything about leaving over-long, over-sharing voicemail messages since Marvin’s Room?
