Dutch producer Julien Mier has always been one for intricate ornamentations, but it seems as though he's gone a step further on his new track Super Tropic Tramp. Setting the listener up with calm washes of glittering watercolour chords, we're soon plunged into a busy world of sound. Set to a head-bopping juke beat, synth chords stutter wildly in ecstasy as a bubbling arpeggios pops rapidly within the frenzy – and all of this is perfectly illustrated by the video, an abstract reaction to the song full of rapidly twisting and turning shapes, by Japanese animators Koji Aramaki and Hiroki Kato.
This comes from Julien Mier's new album 'When Will They Wake Up?', which sees some of his past songs get the remix treatment by artists including Sun Glitters and Alphabets Heaven. It's out now on vinyl with a digital release arriving on 11th November via lovely Canadian Label, King Deluxe.
