Not long ago we premiered a new track by synth pop pioneer John Foxx and versatile techno producer Jori Hulkkonen and mentioned that its remix package would feature an edit by director-turned-musician David Lynch.
Now, you can hear Lynch's remix of Evangeline and watch its video. Directed by Lustix, the video is full of odd images – smoke, crystal skulls, paint-weeping ice cubes – seen on a scrolling tracking shot. If there's a meaning to it all, it evades us. On the musical side, Lynch's remix is a slow, airy electro stomp, Foxx's twisted vocoder appearing at uncertain moments. If you're not into the presence of vocals, there's an instrumental version streaming on Soundcloud.
Lynch has been busy with his music this year – he released a new album, 'The Big Dream', last month – you can read Dummy's take on that here.
Sugarcane Recordings will release the 'European Splendour' EP on August 20th.
