The clip was created by visual trickster Weirdcore, who “performed” with the group at this year’s Bestival – which saw him do some nifty stuff like using a laptop to individually superimpose DOOM’s mask onto the entirety of the watching crowd. The clip is something of a remix in itself, with Weirdcore lifting footage from JJ Doom’s recent Guvnor video and then absolutely going to town on it with some vibrant colour filters. The result is an enjoyable watch, in a sensory overload sort of a way, although probably far less so for anyone who suffers from epilepsy.
The remix itself is a rather pedestrian effort, applying the brakes on the original’s insistent beat; its only redeeming feature is that the said slow-down allows the listener to soak up DOOM’s scattergun wordplay more readily. Which, let’s face it, is usually why we’re drawn back to DOOM in the first place.
