Chinese hip-hop breakout stars Higher Brothers have just dropped a wild new video for ‘Open It Up’.
Part-filmed in San Francisco’s Chinatown, the black and white visual also finds the Sichuanese rap outfit in their incendiary live setting that’s established them as a force to be reckoned with on the world stage.
Signed to 88rising (who we dubbed one of the ten best labels of 2018), the Chengdu group have catapulted into the Western mainstream, having recently completed their second sold-out North American tour, pointing to hip-hop’s increasing globalisation.
The phrase “open it up” was apparently inspired by a Playboi Carti show they attended where he was hyping up the crowd, Higher Brothers have explained.
The group have also just announced the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Black Cab’ album – ‘Five Stars’, which comes out next month.
‘Five Stars’ arrives on February 22nd – preorder it here.
