Some of you may remember Joshua Harvey – aka Hervé – from the heady days of electro. Whether he was sampling Michael Jackson on Cheap Thrills or running the label of the same name, bothering the charts with Sinden as The Count Of Monte Cristal or releasing EPs as Action Man or Voodoo Chilli, his music was broadly the same – brash, big room fidget. All this makes Gold, featuring Not Not Fun/100% Silk’s Maria Minerva, seem like a total about turn – because it is. But an artist wanting to diversify is no bad thing, and Gold – taken from his forthcoming album ‘The Art Of Disappearing’ – is no bad thing, either. As we said when the song was first released into the world earlier this month, the song’s focal point “lies within its dreamlike qualities, heightened by Minerva’s sweet, airy, romantic voice, which is something that captures the Dummy seal of approval.” The track now has a video, directed by Tim Kelly, that fits the song’s mood entirely.
