Video: Indie, 05.12.19Having started out as a member of grime crew Bomb Squad, Hak Baker is pioneering a new sound that positions itself as ‘G-folk’. Now guitar-led, his brand of music speaks for disenfranchised youth and East London living, viewed through the prism of new age lad culture.
His ‘Babylon’ mixtape follows heatedly-received tracks like ‘Like It Or Lump It‘, ‘Conundrum’ and ‘7AM’ and ‘PC Plod’ is one of the tape’s standout tracks, another example of Hak’s fresh take on the folk music template.
Indebted to ska and even drum ‘n’ bass, it’s themed around – you guessed it – his experiences with the police, and the accompanying video (watch above) narrates these tales visually.
“This is the nicest I could be,” Hak says of the track. “Big up, Mr. Plod.”
