Sydney artist Elizabeth Rose goes in for unashamed melody-rich pop – but it’s one that’s spent time being roughened up on a sweaty dancefloor before its completion. New single Again sees her collaborate with UK producer Sinden, a man who knows a thing or two about supplying club-ready vibes. He doesn’t disappoint – helping to place quivering bass and tight beat-drops around Elizabeth’s elastic vocal – ideal for freely perspiring on an overheated dancefloor. The video has Elizabeth kitted out in some glitzy futuristic outfits, one of which features just about the coolest hood I’ve seen in a very long time. Read our Q&A with Elizabeth below.
Hi, Elizabeth Rose! What have you been up to lately?
Hi! Well, just released my first EP ‘Crystallise’ over here in Australia and it feels great to finally have a body of work out there for people to buy. Also – lately I’ve been working on a lot of remixes actually – just finished up one I did for Chairlift… very excited about that one!
*You collaborated with Sinden for the thrilling single, ‘Again’. What was the
experience of working with him like?*
It was great fun! Before then I hadn’t really done many collaborations so this was one of the first ‘big’ ones – we only got given two days in the studio so there was a bit of pressure on us but out of it came a great song. Graeme and I had the same idea for what vibe we wanted to go for, so it was just really easy to work with him.
Do you have a favourite new Australian act of the year you want to big up?
There are many! One band that comes to mind is called I’lls (pronounced Isles) – these boys supported me at my EP launch a while back in Melbourne and I was blown away. You gotta check out their EP ‘Thread’, it’s so well written and the production on it is amazing. Also – just came across a Brisbane chick called Georgia Potter and her track XO (I’m doing a remix for her) – she’s working with some really cool people for her EP and reminds me of Lykke Li but with super soulful, thick, warm vocals. Check them out!
