In their recent interview for Dummy, Chairlift spoke about the “wandering sense of fantasy” that they brought to their latest record, Something . Proving that this is an ingrained part of their aesthetic, here you can watch them bringing the same touch of ethereal fantasy to Beyonce’s brilliant 4 track, ‘Party’.
The session was recorded in a moment of genius earlier this week for Australian radio station Triple J, and features a slick verse from Das Racist’s Vincent Vazquez, or Kool A.D. Kicking off with the ‘Ni**as in Paris’ riff, this cover retains all the unbridled fun of the pop-driven original, but gains a new level of hazy beauty with Caroline Polachek’s gliding vocals and punchy chords. Interestingly, you can also catch ex-Chairlift member Aaron Pfenning (AKA Rewards ) in Bey’s actual Party video .
Young Turks released ‘Something’ on the 23rd January 2012.
