London producer BNJMN makes techno that appears to travel at a languid pace. There's much that's active – sparks and shadows that dance about the main theme – but the overwhelming feeling is that of treacle: thick, slow and darkly sweet. This video for SLOWWAVE, taken from his recent EP 'Hummingbird', traverses land familiar and foreign. The world is observed through the window of half a dozen taxi cabs, which frames every view – from golden sunsets to grey buildings – with the same smeared glass. We are at once present and removed, caught in amber. It's like The Straight Story or Lost In Translation. But with techno.
Rush Hour released BNJMN's 'Hummingbird' EP on 2nd September 2013.
