The 10 Best 2-step Bombs, according to Bklava
Incorporating talent from across the globe, check out our five Tracks of the Week taken from our meticulously-curated BRAND NEW playlist showcasing some of the most exciting up-and-coming talents around.
1. YUNGMORPHEUS – ‘Georgette’s Tea Room’
Underground sensation YUNGMORPHEUS has turned in a nostalgic and jazzy hip hop cut, featuring Pink Siifu. Taken from the forthcoming Eyedress produced album ‘Affable With Pointed Teeth’, new single ‘Georgette’s Tea Room’ shows the ease with which the LA-based rapper can glide over the Filipino’s moody beats. The full project is out October 1.
2. Often – ‘Palm Trees’
Awash with elements of pop, R&B and lo-fi, Often’s meditative sound sets out to create a euphoric experience with emphasis on healing and introspection. With their upcoming LP ‘Dirty Saint’ on the horizon, dropping October 8, the singer/songwriter has shown a glimpse of what’s to come with ‘Palm Trees’: a cut with wonderfully tamed vocal delivery and mellow, droned synths.
3. The Lil People – ‘Real Gas’
Consisting of Weasel Sims and Jae Haze, Chicago-bred rap duo The Lil People are making waves in the underground with their distinctive boom-bap sound. ‘Real Gas’, with its vivid and unapologetic lyricism, shows what the pair’s newly released album ‘Randemic 2: Bandemic’ is all about.
4. Denvre – ‘Sun Stands Still’
Brooklyn-based talent Denvre has mastered the art of eerie and evocative pop songs – something that she proves once again with ‘Sun Stands Still’, the fourth track from her recent EP ‘Medium’. Nodding to the likes of Lorde in her sound, the single’s ghostly R&B flavours are as beautiful as they are haunting.
5. Cousin Kula – ‘BabyBack’
All active members of Bristol’s progressive jazz scene before the six of them joined forces, Cousin Kula turns their shared love for pop, psych-rock, progressive-rock, indie, disco and more into something refreshingly modern. On new single ‘BabyBack’, the band mark their first release of the year in style.
