This time around, Pharrell Williams’ huge collaboration with 21 Savage and Tyler, the Creator tops the list, dropping with a groundbreaking animated video and showing off a killer instrumental, much darker and ominous than we’ve seen from the producer in recent years. On the other side of the Atlantic, UK rapper Bawo is continuing his fine form in 2022 with his new summer anthem ‘SKATE’, while New Jersey-raised star SZA’s deluxe addition of her ‘Ctrl’ record introduces new heaters such as ‘Tread Carefully’. Originally dropping back in 2017, ‘Ctrl’ was one of the biggest albums of that time and the new version raises the bar once again. Elsewhere, blending old school hip hop beats with the fiery attitude of UK drill and grime, emerging South London rapper Strandz is gradually making his way up through the ranks of the British rap scene – his new single ‘4 THE MONEY’ proving once again why there is so much buzz around the young wordsmith. Shygirl is also making big moves as the summer months spring into life, sharing new single ‘Come For Me’. Produced by Arca, it’s the latest track from the UK talent’s long-awaited debut album ‘Nymph’ and showcases her fractured, experimental brand of electronic-leaning pop.
