Mall Grab recruits Novelist and D Double E on murky jungle anthem ‘Times Change’
Incorporating talent from across the globe, check out our five Tracks of the Week taken from our meticulously-curated BRAND NEW playlist showcasing some of the most exciting up-and-coming talents around.
1. Monét Ngo – ‘Lonestar’
Marking his debut artistic release with a feel-good coming of age single, Vietnamese-American school teacher Monét Ngo’s ‘Lonestar’ splices elements of indie-rock, R&B and pop-punk. He describes the sound as music he wishes he could’ve listened to when growing up and it’s hard not to find yourself immersed in the rising talent’s lo-fi universe.
2. HEAD BALLET – ‘To Know Yours’
Formed in Manchester while living together during lockdown, HEAD BALLET are a self-produced duo made up of Kiera Court and Danny Casio. Their latest track ‘To Know Yours’ is a soundtrack to the growing pains of young adulthood, showcasing the pair’s formidable chemistry with a pop-fuelled anthem.
3. Droolip – ‘cash only’
After dropping his debut single last year, Droolip is back again with a brand new offering ‘cash only’. Awash with warped guitar progressions and blissful vocal croons, it’s a highly atmospheric cut which fizzles between electronic ambience and acoustic bluntness. If you haven’t heard of Droolip so far, this track is everything you need to get a sense of his unforgettable style.
4. Bolides – ‘Jamais (vu)’
French duo Bolides recently shared their debut ‘Ruptures Futures’ EP, a romantic collection of tracks blending pop, trap and electro to carve out a universe of love and cynicism. Taken from that project, ‘Jamais (vu)’ is a minimalist offering flexing the pair’s experimental production and vocals.
5. 14VVS – ‘Devil’
By now we’re all used to pitched-up auto-tune vocals and thumping trap productions but that doesn’t make them any less impactful. Channeling the energy of rappers such as Playboi Carti, Travis Scott and Yeat, 19 year old lyricist 14VV has created a banger with his latest single ‘Devil’.
