Incorporating talent from across the globe, check out our five Tracks of the Week taken from our meticulously-curated ‘BRAND NEW’ playlist showcasing some of the most exciting up-and-coming talents around.
1. Lil Heart Eyes – ‘wish i never met you’
Bringing together mind-bending production and slick flows, Lil Heart Eyes is carving out a lane of her own with a unique blend of indie and rap influences. Unable to pin her sound down to any one genre, her latest release ‘wish I never met you’ is an explosive dive into the glitchy world of hyperpop, layering bubbly synths and warped 808s across the rapper’s experimental vocals.
2. Mabi x Hi Tom – ‘i’m so hyped right now’
Because his heavily produced sound often relies on exaggerated auto-tune, Norwegian artist Mabi has garnered comparisons to the likes of Yung Lean and Bladee. Despite having more of a bubbly sound than his Swedish counterparts, the intricate cloud rap soundscapes provided by his friend and producer Hi Tom still pack a punch. On ‘i’m so hyped right now’, the pair team up to create something special.
3. JOSHUA+ – ‘WHITE JESUS’
A consistent provider of quality rap music in 2021 following his debut release, JOSHUA+ has continued his recent form with new single ‘WHITE JESUS’. The new track serves as a reminder of the rising lyricist’s stylish hip hop flows as he skips across the beat with the confidence of a rap veteran.
4. Stoney Hoop – ‘Basics’
Somewhat of an underground hero in the Florida hip hop scene, Stoney Hoop relocated to Brooklyn towards the end of 2020 in a bid to refocus his creative energy and raise his levels once more. His new EP ‘Escapism’ shows the move paid off with tracks such as ‘Basics’ showcasing a fresh and clean sound sprinkled with his trademark style.
5. HDBeenDope – ‘Best Out’
Blending boom-bap-esque hip hop with bolder trap sensibilities, New York rapper and producer HDBeenDope has already got a big reputation in the local rap scene and beyond. On latest single ‘Best Out’, HD pursues a darker sound while his razor-sharp flows cut through the production with ease.
