Incorporating talent from across the globe, check out our five Tracks of the Week taken from our meticulously-curated ‘BRAND NEW’ playlist showcasing some of the most exciting up-and-coming talents around.
1. juno roome – ‘capitol’
Hailing from New York, juno roome writes, produces and mixes his tracks in a small Brooklyn bedroom, often drawing on the mundane aspects of society to create his vivid soundscapes. Inspired by the effects of capitalism on policy making in the US, ‘capitol’ weaves the artist’s worldview into a dreamy and psychedelic lo-fi cut. It’s a melancholy number with an un-deniable edge.
2. thomTide – ‘zeroSum’
Thomtide’s recent work has seen him encapsulate the rise and fall of annual seasons, starting with an upbeat autumn collection before experimenting with frostier winter tones. Signifying the days getting longer as we approach spring, his latest Neo-soul cut ‘zeroSum’ exists in a dream-like state, playing with woozy vocals and production to create a sound bleached in optimism.
3. CHAMPAGNE DENIM – ‘Pretty Little Demon’
Birthed on Soundcloud creating progressive electronic-rap concoctions, Tokyo creative CHAMPAGNE DENIM has now dropped his debut single ‘Pretty Little Demon’. Mashing together sequences of rolling synths to generate a dynamic and immersive soundscape; the vocal overlay lends the cut a hazy warmth.
4. Frances Baker – ‘Hair Turns Grey’
Drawing on influences ranging from Tyler, the Creator to Maggie Rodgers, ‘Hair Turns Grey’ is the second track from Frances Baker’s eponymous debut project. Bolstered by her intricate lo-fi guitar work and a melange of golden melodies, the singer-producer showcases a polished and evocative sound.
5. Sean Play Nice – ‘Sip Killah’
Distilling the weird and the wonderful of New York into his new single ‘Sip Killah’, Sean Play Nice has created a banger. Loaded to the brim with speaker-shaking bass and dizzying flows, the up-and-coming rapper manages to reproduce the authentic grittiness of his city while flexing a unique sound.
