Wiley won't play Glastonbury

The MC has revealed that he never actually made it to the festival site, and will not be playing this weekend, citing the rain and a low fee.

Grime star and troublemaker Wiley, who has been railing against Glastonbury via his Twitter feed since Thursday (27th June), has confirmed today that he won’t be playing his scheduled set at the festival this weekend.

In a tirade of tweets, many of which have now been deleted, the MC has been telling his followers that the weather (“Rain ffs”), his managerial team (“This is what happens when u listen to @Jrwoolfw ..you leave the sun for the rain. I hate my team somedays.”) and the low fee he was being offered to play (“Glastonbury ain’t paying me enough to leave my comfort zone…tight bastards”) were all to blame for his discontent. He also tweeted Glastonbury and its organiser Emily Eavis several times asking to be taken off the bill. (Most of his disgruntled tweets from Thursday and Friday are documented in this VICE article.)

Last night Wiley confirmed that he wouldn’t be appearing at Glastonbury, and had never actually made it to the site, writing that he was “en route to heathrow realtalk.”

He left followers with the advice, “Make sure you go see the Rolling Stones tho,” and “My manager and team could of prevented this but I don’t blame them I’m just glad I ain’t at glasto… Amen.” This morning his final words on the matter appeared to be these:
