Last week, Mike Skinner hosted a Next Level party with Desperados in Peckham, transforming the already-pretty-labyrinthine warehouse of the Bussey Building into a colourful, mazelike space. Opening up multiple floors, the Next Level party filled Bussey's numerous nooks and crannies with different rooms, hidden doors and secret passages. In order to get from one area to the next, partygoers had to break through the walls to (literally) reach the next level.
Along for the ride were some insanely good DJs hand-picked by Skinner himself: alongside previous Dummy Mixers Mumdance and Preditah, there were sets from LV, Stanton Warriors, and garage OGs Oxide & Neutrino.
"It’s great to be a part of something like this," Skinner said after the party, "I love what Desperados did, manipulating time and space to create something unique and original; let’s take it to the next level."
Mike himself is still working on new material, and recently launched his own clubnight, Tonga, in Dalston. He's also about to start a record label.
