Voyeur - Blame It On The Youth

Leeds duo Benson Herbert and Leo Picking announce details of debut 12" and share a new track from their debut release.

If you’re an avid follower of Dummy, you should be familiar with Leeds duo Voyeur. Having done a spectacular job on completely transforming Bombay Bicycle Club’s How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep from pop into an immersive slow jam earlier this year, the pair have now announced details of their debut 12”, to be released on Kerri Chandler’s MadTech imprint, which will be backed by a remix from the New Jersey house master himself.

Over the past few months, it seemed like Voyeur had worked out a comfortable palette of sounds, drawing on drifting keyboard chords and melodic constructions, static sub-bass, clipped vocals, and sparse percussion. Begging to stand out with a sense of subtlety, these are the elements that possess immediate appeal of their music, perfected in the A-side Blame It On The Youth from their debut. It’s exciting to find producers who are determined to forge their own distinct and cohesive sound not only to gain acceptance across the board, but also to show a genuine enthusiasm towards music. There’s something incredibly fresh and thrilling about Voyeur’s touch, and we are certain that they’re the ones to watch in the coming months.

MadTech will release Voyeur – ‘Blame It On The Youth / Get Up’ on 26th November, 2012
