Turner-prize winning artist Jeremy Deller makes £100 12" with busker

Conceptual artist releases record ahead of major Hayward Gallery show.

Jeremy Deller, one of the more interesting of British conceptual artists, will release a 12” of songs recorded with “Chuck”, a guy who busks on the Southbank. The Vinyl Factory will be releasing 100 records in typically lavish fashion, on “pristine” white Colorplan sleeves and a photograph handmade by the Turner Prize winner, on 20th February, in time for the start of the Hayward Gallery’s retrospective of Deller’s work.

Jeremy Deller, one of the more interesting of British conceptual artists, has long worked with both music and vernacular culture. Previous work includes a reconstruction of the miner’s strike Battle of Orgreaves and Acid Brass, which saw a brass band making detroit techno.
