Tributes pour in for Mac Miller
In a devastating turn of events, Mac Miller was found dead at his LA home on Friday. An official cause of death is yet to be confirmed, pending an autopsy.
In a statement, his family said: “Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time”.
At a recent concert in Chicago, Childish Gambino saluted the late rapper, saying: “I’m a very sensitive person… but this Mac Miller shit got me fucked up. He was so nice. He was the sweetest guy, he was so nice. And we were both internet music kids, and a lot of critics were like, ‘This corny-ass white dude, this corny-ass black dude,’ and we used to talk. And this kid, he just loved music.”
On-stage tributes came from Drake, G-Eazy, Elton John, and even Liam Gallagher, who dedicated his show to the late MC, while other members of the hip-hop community paid tribute on Twitter.
I dont know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him.

Ariana Grande, Miller’s ex-girlfriend, was forced to disable comments on her Instagram after abusive messages from his fans flooded her page, posting this black and white image in remembrance.
A vigil will take place at Mac’s favourite park, Blue Slide Park, on Tuesday September 11th.
