In about a year Bethnal Green's Oval Space has become a vital venue on the London scene, and it's just about to reach another landmark. Next week the London Contemporary Orchestra – who count Jonny Greenwood and Foals among previous collaborators – will become the first classical performers at the venue, as part of a special event programme entitled 'Imagined Occasions'.
This will be built on a summer's worth of collaborations marking the orchestra's fifth year in operation, with a world premiere of a commissioned work by Alastair Putt, as well as performances of pieces by George Benjamin and Henri Pousseur. The production and design team from Secret Cinema will also be lending their talents on the night as well.
As if all that wasn't enough, Micachu will follow playing a DJ set "in response" to the performances, which certainly has us intrigued. Incidentally, she recently also turned her hand to writing a score for a feature length film.
'Imagined Occasions' will take place at London's Oval Space on Wednesday 3rd October. Tickets are £25, £10 for the concessions among you, and can be purchased here.
