While performing in Nigeria last month, frontman of The Invisible Dave Okumu was electrocuted while swapping guitars with bandmate Tom Herbert and broke his leg as he collasped to the floor. Okumu reportedly told Gigwise that he thought he was going to die, which chimes uncomfortably with the overriding death motif of The Invisible’s recently released album ‘Rispah’. The album is named after Okumu’s late mother and grief is clearly interwoven throughout its experimental sound. On this remix, Floating Points’ accentuates the depth of Wings, broadening the scope of sound and effortlessly giving the track curves. Vocals and synths are morphed and give way to the centralised circular guitar riff that wanders in and out.
