The Invisible's Dave Okumu introduces Laura Mvula

This week, The Invisible frontman tells you why you should be listening to the Birmingham singer-songwriter.

Laura Mvula only has two songs online, but there’s something about them that’s making them catch like fire. Managing to sound warm and familiar as well as innovative and surprising, the gloomy ballad She and festive track Like the Morning Dew are glimmers of a bright future to come for the soulful Birmingham-based singer-songwriter. The Invisible frontman Dave Okumu is a big fan, and so – for the latest instalment of Dummy’s “introduces” series – he recommends you take a few minutes to get to know this rising star.

Dave Okumu: “Nothing excites me more in life or in music than people with the courage to be themselves. This fills me with a kind of insatiable wonder, a feeling I can’t get enough of. The little I have heard of Laura’s music impacts me in this way. I hope one day our creative paths will cross.”
