Earlier this month, The-Dream tweeted that he would release a free album for his fans, on his birthday, under his own name. It was uploaded last night, and it’s a pretty great, if brutal, listen, full of deeply personal reflections on breaks-up and make-ups and the constellations of pain and beauty between. To be totally honest, as verging-on-dull a fan I am of The-Dream, I didn’t have the highest of expectations for the album – it is free after all – but this is a really pretty special work. There aren’t any Yamaha-size bangers, but with a pretty flawless second half and lots of really great ideas, from the sumptuous romance of Silly to the letter-to-The-Ex Wedding Crasher
