Novelist x Mumdance - Shook

The grime MC/producer combo follow up this year's smasher Take Time with a new EP for XL Recordings.

Novelist and Mumdance are dropping a new EP for independent powerhouse XL Recordings.

The past couple of years have seen a new school of instrumental grime producers emerge in the underground, and with that has come a crop of MCs and vocalists who've been working closely with them. Novelist, a 17-year-old MC from Lewisham and a member of The Square crew, is probably the most recognisable among those names – you only need to peep his nomination for the BBC Sound of 2015 poll earlier today for recognition of that.

Mumdance on the other hand is an old hat, but this year has seen him break out in a big way thanks to his b2b mix with Pinch, his awesome Dummy Mix focusing on Egypt, and of course Take Time, his earlier collaboration with Novelist that acts as a precursor to the '1 Sec' EP. Shook, the first track from that EP, is streaming now. Props are in order for the continued use of that helium voice effect.
