Mehmet Aslan - Mechanical Turk

A winding journey from the Turkish producer and Huntleys & Palmers affiliate.

Huntleys & Palmers have been building a reputation the past few years, having put a few releases out by label mainstay Auntie Flo, as well as Nothing More To Say, the debut 12" by SOPHIE (this before he was working with Madonna…). They've also been hosting parties in London and Glasgow as well as being home to sub-label Highlife and are generally a label we love.

Continuing to put out intriguing electronic music that's globally-minded, their next release comes from Turkey's Mehmet Aslan, who's been mixing and remixing for a while now but is finally releasing his own original material in the form of 'Mechanical Turk' – his debut EP. The self-titled track Mechanical Turk – a reworking of Romanian group Karpov Not Kasparov – is a winding journey, the stabbing bassline and ricocheting tambourines laying peacefully underneath the snaking, evolving melody.

Huntleys + Palmers released Mechanical Turk on November 12th 2014 (buy).
