The Vaselines, EMA, Titus Andronicus and Amanda Palmer star on Nirvana covers album
The staff over at SPIN Magazine have marked the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Nevermind by asking several of their favourite contemporary bands to cover Nirvana classics.
With several intriguing covers, including two from artists who Nirvana once famously covered themselves, a highlight of the album comes in the form of this eerie, banjo-laden cover of Polly by Amanda Palmer. And eerie banjos are not something we recommend often.
The album comes as many are preparing to pay their tributes to the 24th September anniversary of the 1991 release of Nevermind – for some, this means discussing the finer details of Kurt Cobain’s, ahem, anatomical make-up (read about it via Vulture ). For the more traditional among us, this album is a real gem.
