Special Request take over Bar-A-Bar basement on carnival weekend, focusing on a genre close to London's heart – grime.

Topping the bill is pirate radio don Slimzee, a DJ who by now should need no introduction. He dominated the first wave of grime via Pay As U Go; providing the backdrop for classic sets from Wiley, Dizzee plus a host of MCs and remains as crucial to the scene as ever with regular appearances on NTS and Rinse. Expect a heavy bag full of dubs you won't hear anywhere else.

Mr. Mitch represents a a more sensitive strain of the sound; blending R&B and stripped down melodies with classic grime for a heartfelt alternative. With a flurry of heavyweight releases from artists on his Gobstopper label, a debut album on Planet Mu and the progression of his night Boxed, Mitch continues to go from strength to strength.

Finally, Formula Records label head Champion will be bringing his up-to-date take on modern bassline music to the basement with support coming from Special Request residents Leclerc and TK.

Full line-up:
MR. MITCH (Planet Mu / Gobstopper)
CHAMPION (Formula Records)
LECLERC (Formula Records / Special Request)
TK (Special Request)

Special Request XII takes place at Bar-A-Bar, Stoke Newington on August 28th (tickets).
