Slackk - Shogun Assassin

In-your-face grime from one of the genre's most knowledgable.

If you wanted to know what was going on in grime at any point in its history, you could do worse than to ask Slackk.

Slackk – real name Paul Lynch – operated the (since abandonded) Grimetapes blog, a cache of radio rips from the genre's heyday, but since then he has been putting out his own tracks (starting with his Theme From Slackk for Numbers back in 2010), hosting radio shows on Rinse FM and NTS and hosts regular monthly mixes, which are something of a go-to for the newest, maddest instrumental grime.

New track Shogun Assassin is an in-your-face battle cry set to a down-the-middle 4×4 kick-snare drum pattern.

The track is due out on Local Action as part of his 'Failed Gods' EP later this month. The vinyl edition will come with a locked groove, should you never want the music to stop. It's been a busy period for Local Action – last month they announced a new single by DJ Q.

Local Action will release 'Failed Gods' on September 23rd.
