Shacklewell hosts benefit for imprisoned anti-Putin Russian punk band Pussy Riots

Full day event planned to protest the imprisonment of Russian punk group members.

Pussy Riot, the masked feminist punk band who recently caused a storm protesting Vladimir Putin’s presidential election, are holding a broad range of events in support for the three alleged members arrested and charged with “hooliganism” by the Russian authorities.

A fundraiser is taking place here in London this Sunday to raise money and awareness for the detained women, and will feature performances from a range of artists – headed by Viv Albertine of elder punks The Slits – alongside DJs, special guest speakers, book stalls and workshops. The fundraiser is also set in between a DIY Action Day on Saturday the 21st and a planned march on the Russian Embassy on Monday the 23nd.

The Pussy Riot Fundraiser takes place on Sunday the 22nd at the Shacklewell Arms and will require a £5 donation for entry, full details are available at the event Facebook page..
