Ryan Hemsworth - Last Words EP

The Canadian rising star drops a brooding, blissful EP today.

Each fresh release from Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth feels exactly that – fresh. Each time his name crops up, it brings with it a deeper, stormier horizon of sound, a whole new landscape of ideas.

Finding him in a far more contemplative and sombre mood than usual, Last Words takes a tour around previously unexplored recesses of Hemsworth’s sound – not to mention, his capability. His thoughtful Frank Ocean remix saw him climb out of muffled recesses to new heights, elevating his own name as much as he did the track. It’s a theme that’s carried over on to this bitterly short EP, only extended beyond its 5 track length by loving, lush remixes from the likes of Shlohmo and Supreme Cuts.

Last Words has a grown up sound, reaching a peaceful climax in the waves and crashes of ‘Overthinking’, and taking its cues from experimental, wishy-washy samples ranging from Waka Flocka Flame to German indie band The Notwist. Slurring and stumbling through these sublime tracks, it seems evident that Hemsworth is an artist who knows how to evolve. Evolve with him by streaming the EP below, and downloading the full nine songs at WeDidIt.
