Outkast might make a new record, and Andre 3000 might portray Jimi Hendrix

After four years of nothing, rumours are circulating that Outkast are about to resurface with a new album

According to Hip Hop Wired , an industry source has revealed that Outkast are “on track to release a new album by early next year.”

Similar rumours have been circulating for the past four years – ever since Andre 3000 and Big Boi last released an Outkast song, Da Art of Storytelling Part 4 for DJ Drama’s album – and so should be taken with a large dose of salt. Hip Hop Wired, though, describe their source as “rock solid”, so hopes are high for this to be true.

In other news, a recent interview with Hayley Atwell in Esquire magazine has added fuel to the fire of rumours that Andre 3000 is set to star in a Jimi Hendrix biopic as the man himself. Atwell casually mentions “a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix” when asked about her upcoming projects, inciting speculation that visions of Dre donning headbands and pulling off psychedelic guitar solos might be true. There’s no smoke without fire, right?
