Reliving the monumental success that was Boy Better Know's o2 Takeover

Last Sunday, London showed up and showed out for the event of the summer. Grime royalty Boy Better Know brought the madness in ways they only know how with a complete takeover of London's o2 Arena, ranging from music to sports and everything in between. The line-up reads like a who's who of the very best of British talent, with performances from BBK (Skepta, JME, Wiley and co.), J Hus, Ghetts, Kojey Radical, Chip and a host of others, so star studded doesn't even begin to describe the event.

Knee deep in the performances came the surprise outing of Giggs and…wait for it…none other than Drake, who both tore the house down with a performance of 'KMT'. This came just hours after they stole the show together at Reading Festival and, naturally, the internet went crazy. Many wondered: 'What's Drake doing there?' What's more interesting is, with the conflicting schedule of the BBK takeover and MTV's Video Music Awards – a glittering event itself – Drizzy would have seemingly headed for the latter. But, after showing untold levels of support to the UK scene both in cosigns and his music, Drake's appearance with Giggs perhaps represents yet another moment of solidarity with the best of the UK.

Now that the dust has settled, we can look at the takeover as another monumental moment in British music, made possible by the popularity of grime and the current cultural pull of BBK. With this, they continue to cement their legacy in the game and continue to be defined by greatness. I can see the takeover becoming an annual thing…
