Rave kills dolphin

Swiss marine park holds two-day techno event that ends in tragedy for marine mammal.

An eight-year old dolphin named Shadow has died following a two-day techno event held in a marine park in Lipperswil, Switzerland. Despite protests by animal activists at Connyland marine park, the event went ahead. Shadow “appeared very distressed and disoriented after the event, and was later found dead,” reported The Sun.

Dolphins have an incredibly acute sense of hearing. The auditory nerve of a dolphin – the nerve that carries signals from the inner ear to the brain – is highly developed, much more so than that of a human. One of the activists told The Sun: “The sound levels dolphins heard were comparable to a pneumatic drill.”
