Premiere: Watch the haunting visual for LOLÉ's 'Thoughts Of Us'

Hailing from North London via the rolling hills of Italy, R&B songstress Lauren Vietro aka LOLÉ is stepping out on her own, following a string of collaborations with the likes of SubSoul affiliate Joey Mccrilley and Après.

She now presents the haunting visual for ‘Thoughts Of Us’, her debut solo single – a reflection on investing your whole self into a relationship which ultimately isn’t right. Over ethereal production, Vietro showcases a vocal that spans breathy intimacy and shimmering top lines, with cathartic lyricism inspired by the likes of Sade and Sinead Harnett.

The accompanying visual, directed by Rich Hall of Riff Raff Films and choreographed by Mikey Boats (PDK ENT), is a moody, textured portrayal of sentience as the elements.

Of the concept behind the finished product, LOLÉ says: “We wanted to veer away from the narrative structure of a music video and instead hone in on an artistic approach. In my mind I saw emotive choreography, intense movement, I wanted it to be beautiful and compelling. I asked Mikey if he would choreograph, and with Rich’s vision of using the elements as a foundation it felt so warm and perfect. It fell into place really organically.”

With a palette of deep reds and rich blues, along with natural elements like mist, exposed woodland, flickers of a fireball and electric forks of lightning, the ‘Thoughts Of Us’ video portrays strength and vulnerability, uncertainty and clarity. Combining the intricacies of kinetic expression with the force of mother nature, Riff Raff have visualised the hazy and introspective nature of ‘Thoughts Of Us’ into visceral landscapes.
