Premiere: The Micronauts 'Acid Party'

Formed in 1995 The Micronauts were contemporaries of The Chemical Brothers, FC Kahuna and Daft Punk – in fact their classic 1995 debut 'Get Funky Get Down' (reissued last year) included Daft Punk’s first ever remix: a pummelling, acid techno attack in the lineage of Emmanuel Top, rather than Chic.

Now Christopher Monier's French acid house project is back with ‘Acid Party’ – a 9-minute, mind-bending voyage through The Micronauts singular take on acid techno and the lead single from his forthcoming studio album due later this year.

Accompanying the extraordinary original version is a heavy-duty remix package. First up are post-punk, indie dance experimentalists turned electronic music dons Red Axes, who deliver a stripped-back, muscular house interpretation. Techno legend Luca Agnelli delivers an acid techno masterpiece faithful to his purist sound, while 303Lovers co-founder Luigi Rocca contributes a tense, rolling tech house stormer that will surely become ubiquitous in Ibiza once the season kicks into gear.

Accompanying the release of ‘Acid Party’ is a striking video directed by Elsa Milovanovic that "tells the story of a female android who violently frees herself from her patriarchal imprisonment".
