Premiere: Terekke - Asidis

Smudgy house producer's contribution to NYC label L.I.E.S.'s 'American Noise' compilation is a creeper in the best of ways.

“I like to imagine myself leaving my body, floating up slowly until I get deep into space and time,” said New York producer Terekke in an interview with Dummy last summer. He was talking about how important it is to get into the right frame of mind for making music, which is funny because Terekke’s music is all about frame of mind; a single thought fully inhabited. Asidis, which we’re chuffed to premiere today, is his latest astral projection and contribution to the ‘American Noise’ compilation by NYC label L.I.E.S. With its loose but focused groove, synth wash and bat-and-ball acid line, Asidis has a self-possessed warmth that slides its arm around you when you’re not looking. There’s a little squiggly reel slip-up at one point in Asidis – Terekke records to tape – but it only adds to the living, breathing physicality of it. Listen below and scroll down for the full artwork by Black Dice’s Bjorn Copeland in all its glory, including Skrillex on a skewer.

‘L.I.E.S. presents: American Noise’ [2CD] was released on 1st December 2012
